Prettl „Go Zero“– Prettl sets course for CO2 neutrality

Eckerle will also pursue the goals

  • Climate-friendly production: In the coming years Prettl plans to produce CO2-neutral in the balance sheet at all production sites worldwide.
  • Products and technologies to reduce the carbon footprint: Companies of Prettl group support the energy turnaround with products for energy generation and storage, as well as for the electrification of mobility.

Over the past few months, the Prettl group of companies has been working intensively on a Prettl-specific roadmap to set the course for CO2-neutral production. Prettl was one of the first customers to be supported by the newly founded Bosch Climate Solutions GmbH. Using their process model, the Prettl team developed a CO2 reduction concept designed for more than 40 production sites worldwide.

“For our long-standing partner Prettl, sustainable, ecological, and socially responsible action is just as important as it is for us,” explains Torsten Kallweit, Managing Director of Bosch Climate Solutions GmbH. “We are therefore proud that we were able to support Prettl in developing an individual CO2 reduction concept”.

Energy efficiency and own power generation from renewable sources as the most important levers

In intensive workshops, a scenario analysis was jointly developed, which served as the basis for the creation of Prettl’s own master plan for CO2 reduction. This master plan aims to achieve climate neutrality through a clear focus on energy efficiency and renewable own power generation.  “For us, these two levers are decisive for our future path,” explains Manuel Schmuker, COO of Prettl Beteiligungs Holding. “By consistently increasing efficiency, we will manage to use fewer resources. By continuously increasing our own renewable power generation, we can obtain the resources we still need in a climate-friendly manner. In this way, we want to set an example to the industry – we are embarking on our efficiency and own power path.”

Over the next few months, the team will work together with the global sites to develop concrete action plans for implementing the master plan. “We are very proud that there is already a strong awareness of the issue at our locations worldwide. This confirms that we have initiated an important project with “Go Zero”,” says Halit Oluk, Global Project Manager Efficiency and Sustainability Development, describing the cooperation with the production sites.

Broad portfolio of intelligent technologies and products to support the energy turnaround

However, the Prettl Group is not only working on reducing its own CO2 footprint. Willi Prettl explains: “Prettl companies have been working for the energy turnaround for more than two decades. REFU Elektronik develops technologies and products for renewable energy generation and storage, while other companies such as REFU Drive are driving forward the electrification of vehicles. We will continue to expand this existing product portfolio in the future. After all, we do not only want to make a difference with our own handling of resources, but also to provide other companies with the necessary technologies and products to follow our example”.
