The Chinese New Year Celebrations
The Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is the most significant occasion for a quarter of the world’s population, celebrated in China and other East Asian countries. The beginning of the Chinese New Year is determined through complex calculations, but it always falls between January 21 and February 21.
The Lunar New Year, symbolizing the beginning of spring in China, brings together members of large families who exchange gifts and bid farewell to the old year. During this period, China is dressed in red: decorations, clothing, costumes, banners, lanterns, and pictures are all in red. The colour symbolizes abundance, wealth, and good fortune.
Therefore, in our Chinese facilities, the year-end celebrations customary in Europe and the American continent in December, take place at the end of January. During these gatherings, the company leadership expresses gratitude for the employees’ performance and efforts throughout the year, encouraging the team to continue working together in the new year.
The celebrations typically consist of a dinner and a multi-stage prize draw. The value of the prizes increases from one level to another, and the lucky winners can take thematic photos in front of a creative media wall – this year with the company management. The evening is also enriched with playful competitions and high-quality performances by the employees.
This year’s corporate event featured special moments as well. Rolf Prettl and Andreas Göhring travelled to China to celebrate with our colleagues. One highlight of the evening was when the company management presented a plaque recognizing the Chinese facility’s stable financial results and continuous growth.
This year’s celebration theme, “Rise with Synergy for Continuous Glory“, expresses the intention of leveraging synergies for continuous growth and enhancing our reputation. This motto was displayed on a wall where all our employees could sign, demonstrating unity towards common goals.
After the celebration, our guests were guided by our Chinese management to visit the Jintai Temple. Overall, we bid farewell to the Year of the Rabbit in a worthy manner and face the challenges of the Year of the Dragon with ready optimism.
